About Dark Dunes Productions

Dark Dunes Productions is an Abu Dhabi based film production company that was founded by Emirati businessman Sultan Saeed Al Darmaki in August 2013. They specialize in making horror, science-fiction and fantasy films with an emphasis on practical creature special effects and story telling.

Their projects include: Lord of Tears, Harbinger Down, Kids vs Monsters and most recently, Yamasong: March of the Hollows- a fantastical puppet film that is directed by Sam Koji Hale, executive produced by Toby Froud and Heather Henson and features an all-star cast.

Client Needs

Dark Dunes Productions came to us initially for expertise in both online PR and social media during the ramp up to the release of their film Kids vs. Monsters along with their other project Yamasong, which was wrapping production in the fall of 2015.

Through Online PR, Social Media, Creative Pieces and Digital Advertising, we created a robust strategy to reach viewers of their latest projects and ultimately converted them into fans of Dark Dunes Productions.

Our Approach

We continue to work with Dark Dunes on an ongoing basis to foster relationships online, promote their titles through social media, targeted online advertising campaigns and placements within major media.

We’ve developed and honed in on targeted audiences for the Dark Dunes Productions Films and Brand. From Puppet-loving groups to Horror fans to indie film focused audiences, we’ve established the core audience for Dark Dunes Productions content and their films.

As Dark Dunes Productions continues to produce interesting and unique films and works on distribution for their finished titles, we continue to cultivate and engage their audience on social media, through creative content, digital advertising and press coverage.

Film PR Outreach

With the unique nature of Dark Dunes Productions films, we continually seek to find interesting and creative outlets for coverage of their productions and finished films. From features with Nerds of Color to a video series with Film Courage, we’ve been able to introduce Dark Dunes Productions to new and relevant audiences and increase interest and excitement in their films.

Social Media Advertising

In order to grow the Dark Dunes Productions fan-base during times when there isn’t actively a film to promote, we’ve worked on creative Digital Advertising campaigns to increase interest, engagement and overall grow the Dark Dunes Productions follower count. Facebook has seen the most success with 22% growth in 2017 at a low-cost of less than $0.25 per new fan!

Event Coverage

With the release of Kids vs. Monsters in 2015, we invited and facilitated press coverage of the Film’s release and screening in Hollywood. We were on hand to oversee the press coverage and red carpet line and facilitated requests for interviews and coverage of the film in the weeks following.

Film Marketing, Content Creation & Curation

From writing daily content to creating unique imagery and engaging videos, images (and gifs!), we are hands-on with all things Dark Dunes Productions social media. From thematic content to sales pitches to general information about upcoming titles, we handle all content, ideation and media creation for the various Dark Dunes Productions Social Media accounts.
