JKJK, this isn’t a sales pitch (but really, we’re great at it we have 10+ years experience writing on the internet!), it’s a reminder that even though blogging can be a time suck, it is very important for most brands to write updates and content for their followers, often. Why you ask?
Develop The Voice of The Brand
Who are you? What are you providing that’s different than your competitors? By regularly blogging you provide a platform for your fans or customers to get to know who you are and why they should follow you instead of your competition. Just like with your social media profiles, you need to narrow in on your “voice,” it should mirror what you are doing on social media so your followers don’t get personality whiplash.
You know we had to. #EGBTT
Connect with your Followers
You want your fans and customers to connect with you and stick around for the long haul. What’s a better way to do that than to connect with them using your blog? By sharing insider (or personal) info, you let your fans in on who you and your brand really are. Do you like what they like? Do you care about the same social matters? Do you respond to their comments or social media messages? These are all questions that should be easy to answer. I know what I comment on Disneyland Resorts blog, they’re most likely going to respond, especially if I have a question! They’re making me loyal through their consistent content AND their interaction.
Create Content for Social Channels
We know how hard creating daily social media content can be, we do it every day! By blogging you create instant social media content that can be used over and over again (just don’t be obnoxious about it). Remember that blog you wrote last year? Perfect filler for a slow news week! Plug it into your content calendar (you have one, right?!) and another day is filled! Plus more traffic to your website!
Find New Customers… and create SALES!
DING DING DING… now that I have your attention… according to Hubspot research: “Companies that published 16+ blog posts per month got almost 3.5X more traffic than companies that published 0-4 monthly posts.” Plus 61% of consumers say they base their purchases on information they read in blogs. HELLOOOO potential Sales!
Build Your Niche Authority
Are you looking to establish your brand as the go-to source for hot tubs/jewelry/movie news/books/organic food/dining out/home decor? Blogging provides the perfect platform for you to share your expertise and knowledge of a subject. Invite other well-known voices in your industry to write a guest blog, or conduct an email interview to build up your authority. By writing about what you KNOW, customers and fans can look to you as an authority in your space.
Let’s get real for a second… blogging regularly is HARD WORK. It takes time, creativity and plain ‘ol elbow grease to get it done. Both Bekah and I have been blogging daily (dear god) or weekly since 2008, we KNOW it’s not easy but we Method is the product of that hard work and we’re proud to have stuck out the late nights and writer’s block because hard work (aka blogging for ten years) pays off.
